Lead Committee Page (Temporary)

Salary: $20.52/hour + holiday pay

Reports To: First Assistant Secretary of the Senate

This position will be onsite in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol.

This is a nonpartisan position, and the expectation is that the successful candidate will remain free from party affiliation, bias, or designation the duration of the appointment.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the First Assistant Secretary of the Senate, the Lead Committee Page will coordinate and schedule the Committee Pages work. This position will assist the Senate Chamber Front Desk and Committees while performing a variety of administrative duties, which may include assisting with correspondence, floor sessions, setup and taping of meetings, etc.

During Legislative Session this position will be expected to work longer hours.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule the Committee Pages work.
  • Manage and coordinate the errands for each Committee Page throughout the Capitol Complex.
  • Assist the Senate Chamber Front Desk with floor sessions by distributing bills onto the Senate floor.
  • Promptly assist Senators and staff during floor sessions and committee hearings.
  • Assist with errands throughout the Capitol Complex for Committee Members and staff.
  • Assist Committee Legislative Assistant in preparation of materials for meetings.
  • Electronically tapes meetings.
  • Distribute materials and clean up after meetings and sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

High school or college graduate.

In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must have the skills to:

  • Coordinate and schedule the work of others.
  • Communicate effectively with Senate staff and members.
  • Work independently and as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the Legislative process.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel)
