Salary: $33.41/hour

Telework: This position works on-site in the Capitol and Minnesota Senate Building.

Days of Work/Hours: Monday-Friday/ Work hours will vary. This position requires long and irregular hours during the legislative session, including occasional evening and weekend work.

Position Summary:
Produce gavel-to-gavel coverage of Senate proceedings, including floor sessions, committee hearings and press conferences, that informs the public of Senate actions

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Gather information and create graphic content for live productions.
    • Communicate with Senators, Committee Administrators, and other staff to secure accurate graphical information for each committee and press conference broadcast and webcast.
    • Communicate with the Senate Front Desk staff about upcoming session floor sessions, such as bills and resolutions for the day, the scheduled Chaplain, and any other information that would require graphic support.
    • Ensure that the broadcast and streaming programming are providing accurate information to Senators, staff, the general public, and lobbyists.
    • Write summaries of committee hearings and floor sessions as needed.
    • Contribute to Senate Media Services social media channels as needed.
    • This position may include operating graphics system or controlling the robotics cameras during live productions.
    • Work with various media applications and equipment (i.e. Ross Xpression, Inception Graphics, Edius, Kayak, Youtube and robotic camera systems.)
    • Support other Senate Media staff as needed.
    • Assist in the management of YouTube archives.
    • Record live streams and edit as necessary.
    • Assist in the publishing of completed content to desired internet sites.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Writing, Media Production, Communications, or related area of study.

    OR

    Two (2) years of experience in Television, Cable, Video Production, or related.

    • Ability to work in a non-partisan capacity, supporting all members and staff regardless of party affiliation or position.
    • Ability to work long hours, days, nights, weekends when necessary.
